State v. Boyd7/31/1996 lum, 334 N.C. at 244, 433 S.E.2d at 164. We have reviewed all of the cases in the pool of similar cases used to fulfill this statutory duty and conclude the present case is more similar to certain cases in which we have found the sentence of death proportionate than to those in which we have found the sentence disproportionate or those in which juries have consistently returned recommendations of life imprisonment. Accordingly, we conclude that the sentences of death recommended by the jury and ordered by the trial court in the present case are not disproportionate.
For the foregoing reasons, we hold that defendant received a fair trial, free of prejudicial error, and that the sentences of death entered in the present case must be and are left undisturbed.
NO ERROR.
