Several cities across the country celebrated the 1862 Battle of Puebla yesterday. Many cities that celebrate Cinco de Mayo felt that with all the alcohol consumption predicted that day, it would be safe to take extra precousions to drivers on the roadways.
Paradise Police Lt. Al Billington commented on the issue. “Cinco de Mayo has become a big night out, especially for young adults.”
Butte County’s law enforcement agencies, or the “Avoid the Eight,” DUI task force will especially concentrate on the California Highway Patrol jurisdiction regions.
Billington will not be giving any driver under the influence a second chance. He suggest designated drivers as anyone being caught driving under the influence will suffer the consequences of jail time.
