| Minnesota Commissioner Sentenced with DWI |
Dennis Hegberg, District 1 Washington County Commissioner was court ordered to probation and pay a hefty $300 fine on charges of drunk driving .
Judge Stephen Askew fined sentenced him to two years of probation. Hegberg pled guilty to a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge May 6. Washington County Court officials felt the need to move the case from Washington County to Anoka County to avoid any conflicts with favoritism.
Hegberg was caught driving while intoxicated in Forest Lake March 26 while being pulled over for unsafe driving. His blood alcohol level was tested at .14 when he was stopped by Forest Lake Police at 1:30 a.m. on Highway 97 near Goodview Avenue.
The court threw out the fourth degree driving while impaired and proof of insurance charges and accepted a guilty plea of operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .08 within two hours.
Hegberg has since apologized to the community for his lack of judgment.
