The police chief of Alexandria, Virginia has been accused of driving drunk at more than twice the legal blood-alcohol limit.

In a story that's tipping the irony meter, the police chief of Alexandria, Virginia has been accused of driving drunk at more than twice the legal blood-alcohol limit.

Alexandria city officials say David Baker was arrested for DUI after he was involved in a car crash late Saturday in an unmarked city vehicle. They say his blood-alcohol level was .19%. The legal limit is .08%.

The 58-year-old Baker has been placed on administrative leave.

City Manager James Hartmann describes the arrest of Baker as “very disappointing.” Hartmann says he will wait for an internal review before deciding whether to fire Baker.

Court records in Arlington County, where the crash occurred, list no attorney for Baker. There was no answer at a phone number listed for Baker.
