A twenty-one year old university student charged with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphenalia, 92 mph in a 75 mph zone, and DUI. Student was ready to plead guilty. We begged for a fax of the arrest and booking sheet. In about a half-hour we discovered a fatal flaw in the report which resulted in all charges being dropped. The guilty plea would have cost him about $10,000.00 in fines and increased insurance premiums. The long distance fax cost him about $0.27 cents. LESSON: Don't make two mistakes in a row. You first helped build the state's case by complying with the field sobriety tests that were voluntary! Let an attorney review your case prior to any plea!
