Utah DUI defense attorney Roy D. Cole was born in Anaheim, California in 1967 and soon moved to Utah with his family. He was a 1986 graduate of Bonneville High School and continued his education at Weber State University in Utah. In 1994 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Majoring in Psychology and a double minor of Spanish and Criminal Justice. During Mr. Cole’s tenure at Weber State he participated in the following activities: Student Senator - College of Social and Behavioral Science; Presidential Cabinet-Student Liaison to the Athletic Department; Student Elections Committee - Rules and Violations Committee Social/Service Fraternity - Greek Council Delegate.
Before becoming a Utah DUI lawyer Mr. Cole attended law school at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He participated in the Moot Court Competition and was an alternate for the Moot Court Traveling Team. He also was on the Negotiation Team and served on the Negotiations Board.
During his first and second year of law school Mr. Cole served in The Federalist Society first as Vice President, then in my second year as President, During this time he was able to bring many nationally renowned speakers to his school.
Utah DUI defense attorney Roy D. Cole was also a member of Member Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, the Public Interest Law Forum (he even served on their Grant Selection Committee for all three years of law school). He was a Peer Mentor as well as a member of the Environmental Law Society.
At the beginning of Mr. Cole’s career as a Utah attorney he was a prosecutor in the South Ogden Justice Court, but found the work a bit dissatisfying. The deck always seemed stacked in the prosecution’s favor and there was little to no challenge for him. He soon switched to criminal defense. “I now sleep better at night and I feel like I am making a difference” says Mr. Cole.
